Additional PBJ Squadrons

Other Marine PBJ squadrons were in active training modes when the war ended and many men were killed or injured during this time. The other squadrons commissioned during July 1944 were VMB-453, 463, 473, 483, 614, 621, 622, 623, and 624. The last four units were redesignated as Marine Towing Detachments Squadrons (VMTB) during early 1945 and began training on carriers. Other units that used the PBJ were called Marine Torpedo Bombing Squadrons (MOTS), which were established to train personnel on the PBJ; these were 811, 812, 813, and 814.
